In 2018, Greenfield Nursery and Primary School was honored to welcome a special visitor and friend from Germany, Hartmut Finke.
From the moment he arrived, it was clear that Hartmut had a deep passion for helping children and giving them opportunities for a brighter future.
Hartmut believed that every child deserves access to education, hope, and the chance to achieve their dreams. During his time with us, he took a genuine interest in the lives of our pupils and the development of our school. He was not only a supporter of our work but also a true friend who cared deeply about the wellbeing of the children and staff at Greenfield.
Over the years, Hartmut generously supported our school in many ways. He provided school supplies to help children learn, and whenever emergencies arose, he stepped forward to help meet urgent needs, including food and other essential support. His kindness and generosity made a real difference in the lives of many children and families in our community.

Hartmut had great hopes and plans for the future of Greenfield Nursery and Primary School. He wanted to see more children receive a quality education and have the opportunity to build better lives for themselves and their families. Although many of those plans remained unfinished, his belief in our mission continues to encourage us as we move forward.

It is with sadness that we remember that Hartmut Finke passed away on 18 September 2024 on the Greek island of Crete. His passing was a great loss not only to those who knew him personally but also to the many children whose lives were touched by his generosity.
Today, we remember Hartmut with gratitude and respect. We celebrate his compassion, his friendship, and his commitment to helping others. The impact he made at Greenfield Nursery and Primary School will not be forgotten, and his legacy lives on in the children whose lives he helped change.
