In the heart of Rubanda District in southwestern Uganda, many children face daily challenges that threaten their future. Poverty, loss of parents, lack of school fees, and limited access to basic needs continue to affect hundreds of families in rural communities. For orphans and vulnerable children, the situation is even more difficult.
Greenfield Kids Foundation was established to respond to this urgent need — to restore hope, provide education, and create a brighter future for children who need it most.
Who We Are
Greenfield Kids Foundation is a registered Community Based Organisation (CBO) under Rubanda District Local Government in accordance with the laws of Uganda. Our foundation was created with a clear mission: to support needy children and orphans through access to education, care, and community support.
We believe that every child deserves:
- The right to education
- Proper care and protection
- Nutritious meals
- A safe learning environment
- Hope for a better future
Today, we proudly support 570 children studying at Greenfield Nursery and Primary School, a subsidiary project of Greenfield Kids Foundation.
The Challenges Facing Children in Rubanda District
Rubanda District is a beautiful rural area in southwestern Uganda. However, many families struggle with poverty and unemployment. For children who have lost one or both parents, life becomes even harder.
Some of the major challenges affecting vulnerable children include:
- Lack of School Fees
Many families cannot afford tuition, uniforms, books, and other school requirements. As a result, children are often forced to drop out of school.
- Child Labor
Some children must work in farms or small businesses to help their families survive instead of attending school.
- Early Marriages
In rural communities, young girls are sometimes married off early due to poverty, cutting short their education and future opportunities.
- Lack of Basic Needs
Many vulnerable children lack access to proper meals, clothing, medical care, and emotional support.
Without intervention, these challenges can trap children in a cycle of poverty for generations.
Our Solution: Education as a Tool for Change
At Greenfield Kids Foundation, we believe that education is the most powerful tool to break the cycle of poverty.
Through Greenfield Nursery and Primary School, we provide:
- Affordable and supported education
- Scholastic materials
- A structured and caring learning environment
- Guidance and mentorship
- Community involvement
By keeping children in school, we protect them from exploitation, early marriages, and child labor. We help them build confidence, knowledge, and life skills that will shape their future.
Supporting 570 Children with Hope
Currently, 570 children are studying at Greenfield Nursery and Primary School under the support of Greenfield Kids Foundation. These children come from vulnerable families, including:
- Orphans
- Children from low-income households
- Children raised by elderly grandparents
- Children from single-parent families
Every school day represents hope. Every lesson learned is a step closer to a better tomorrow.
Our foundation works closely with parents, guardians, and community leaders to ensure that children remain in school and receive the support they need to succeed.
Why Community-Based Organisations Matter
As a Community Based Organisation (CBO), Greenfield Kids Foundation understands the local challenges because we are part of the community. We work directly within Rubanda District, which allows us to:
- Identify the most vulnerable children
- Monitor progress closely
- Respond quickly to urgent needs
- Build trust with families and local leaders
Community-based solutions are often the most effective because they are rooted in understanding, accountability, and local commitment.
The Impact We Are Creating
Though challenges remain, the impact is visible:
- Increased school enrollment among vulnerable children
- Reduced dropout rates
- Improved academic performance
- Greater community awareness about the importance of education
Parents who once thought education was impossible for their children are now seeing new possibilities.
Children who once felt forgotten now have a place where they are valued and supported.
Our Vision for the Future
Our vision is to expand our support services and reach even more vulnerable children in Rubanda District and beyond. We aim to:
- Improve school infrastructure
- Strengthen feeding programs
- Provide more scholastic materials
- Increase sponsorship opportunities
- Build partnerships with well-wishers locally and internationally
We believe that lasting change happens when communities and partners come together for a shared purpose.
How You Can Help
Supporting vulnerable children in Uganda is not only the responsibility of local communities — it is a shared human responsibility.
You can help by:
- Sponsoring a child’s education
- Donating scholastic materials
- Supporting school feeding programs
- Partnering with Greenfield Kids Foundation
- Sharing our mission with others
Every contribution, no matter the size, creates impact.
A Message of Hope
At Greenfield Kids Foundation, we see potential where others may see hardship. We see leaders, teachers, doctors, and change-makers in the faces of the 570 children we support.
With continued support, guidance, and education, these children will grow into responsible adults who will transform their families and communities.
Together, we can build a future where no child in Rubanda District is denied education because of poverty.
