Current Needs and Future Plans

Food Supply and Nutrition

Food is essential for the well-being of our students. Each term lasts three months, and we aim to provide regular, nutritious meals for the children. Currently, we serve a variety of meals, including groundnuts, sweet potatoes, and greens. In the future, we plan to improve the diet by offering meat once a month, particularly for those students who live on campus.

Meat is currently a rare treat, mostly enjoyed during the Christmas and Easter holidays. Our goal is to make sure every child has access to a balanced diet.

Water Supply

Water is a fundamental need for the school. We plan to address our water shortage by purchasing four additional water tanks, each with a capacity of 10,000 liters.

This would provide sufficient water for the boys' and girls' sections, as well as the kitchen. With these new tanks, we anticipate harvesting up to 90,000 liters of rainwater during the rainy season, which will greatly alleviate our current water challenges.

Additional Desks and Beds

To ensure that every child has a comfortable place to sit and sleep, we require more desks and beds. Currently, some children share desks and beds, which affects their ability to focus and rest properly. With additional desks and beds, each child will have their own space, contributing to a more conducive learning environment.

Solar power supply

Although the school is connected to electricity, power outages are common, leaving the school in darkness, which can be unsafe for the children.

To mitigate this, we plan to install solar panels as a backup power source, ensuring the school remains well-lit and safe during power outages.

School van

In 2018, a generous sponsor began funding annual trips for our P7 candidates to visit Lake Bunyonyi, a tradition we would like to continue. To make this possible, we need a school van or coaster bus.

This vehicle will also be used for other educational trips, transporting students to and from school, and helping us take part in community events. A bus will significantly improve our mobility, but it is a significant investment.

5%

Teachers Toilets

Our teachers also require improved sanitation facilities. We plan to build a dedicated toilet for the teaching staff, providing them with a private and hygienic space.

School Truck

A school truck is essential for various activities, including fetching water during the dry season, transporting firewood for cooking, and helping with school supplies. Owning a truck would also allow us to generate income by offering transportation services to others, such as delivering firewood. Currently, we spend a considerable amount on these services, and having our own truck would help reduce costs and contribute to our income

3%

Toilets for boys

The boys' toilet facilities need urgent attention. The current structure is inadequate, and inspections have recommended building a more permanent and hygienic facility. We plan to construct a new toilet with two sides, each with three doors, to accommodate the boys and ensure they have a clean and safe place to use

Computers for learning

In today’s world, computer literacy is essential. We plan to purchase computers for the school so that our students can learn how to use them. This will give them valuable skills that will benefit them in their future education and careers. Currently, few schools can afford computers, so acquiring them would be a significant step forward for our students.

Installation of lighting conductors

We also plan to install lightning conductors at Greenfield Nursery and Primary to protect the school from potential lightning strikes, ensuring the safety of everyone on the premises.

Construction of examination hall

We aim to construct a dedicated examination hall. This space will not only be used for exams but also serve as a chapel, conference hall, and meeting space for parents and guardians.

Having a proper examination hall will give the children the space they need to concentrate during exams.
